Celebrity sites were crazy about Tom Cruise and 26-year-old restaurant manager Cynthia Jorge today after they were spotted at New York hot spot Le Baron cutting up the dance floor together Dirty Dancing style, but both are adamant about not officially dating. Perez Hilton claims a source close to Cynthia says:
“Cynthia told me they went out for drinks and it was nothing but a casual night out. She said he’s a nice guy.”
A friend of Tom also stated that he is still very single and not instantly dating someone just because he’s seen with them.
This isn’t the first time Cynthia Jorge has gotten down with a celebrity hunk. She dated Seann William Scott (Stifler from American Pie).
It may come as a bit of a surprise to some people, but Carly Rae Jepsen, who burst onto the music scene with her hit Call Me Maybe, isn’t a teenager. In fact the singer is 27 years old. Despite her age, Jepsen has been accused in recent times of trying to appear younger than she actually is.
The argument against her isn’t a surprising one, so everyone from binguez enthusiasts to the chef on the corner were probably expecting it. Call Me Maybe does upon first listen, sound like a song which would be sung by the likes of Selena Gomez or any other Disney starlet turned singer. And sometimes the outfits Jepsen wears on stage, could be construed as the kind someone ten years younger than herself would wear.
However the Canadian insists that she’s “stoked” people assume she’s younger. Although she certainly doesn’t feel like a youngster. “I turned 27 in November, and when I look in the mirror, I see all of the years attached to that face, and I’m content with me.”
And when it comes to her own life, well, lets just say the teenage outfits don’t make an appearance at home.
“I love being classy and as elegant as possible in my apartment. But when I’m on stage, I can’t dance in 4-inch heels, so I’ll generally sport flats. I’m 5-foot-2, so yeah, I’m going to look a little bit more playful. But I don’t think that means I’m trying for an age younger than I am.”
Is it fair to criticise the singer for taking advantage of her youthful looks? And what’s more, what do people expect her to dress like? She’s at the age where she can still get away with dressing younger, and considering the majority of her peers use sexy outfits to sell albums, can’t we call her a breath of fresh air and be done with it? Her style will mature as she gets older. Give her a chance.
Earlier today, TMZ reported that Charlie Sheen sent Lindsay Lohan a $100,000 check out of which $93k was used on Lohan’s 2009 tax debt and $6k on her 2010 tax debt.
The news comes just one day after MTV’s interview with actor James Franco and his testament to Lohan’s struggle with publicity after having spent time with her during the filming of R.E.M.’s video for “Blue”.
“I think one of the reasons it’s so hard is when she gets in trouble, she gets all this attention and I’m sure she gets book offers,” Franco said, alluding to the temptation of greed and success at the expense of a celebrity’s freedom and privacy. “She goes to jail, and instead of feeling like ‘I really hit a low place,’ she’ll get a crazy offer for her jail memoir.”
At age 91, jazz pianist and composer Dave Brubeck was still playing jazz clubs like Blue Note in New York City. He pioneered a style which caught everyone’s eyes and ears in such popular jazz songs as “Take Five”, “Blue Rondo A la Turk”, and others with challenging time signatures and rhythms that stand out among the finest of jazz music from the last century.
Brubeck formed The Dave Brubeck Quartet circa 1951 and was the first modern jazz musician to be pictured on the cover of Time magazine in November of ’54. As his career spanned American jazz as far back as the end of World War II, Brubeck helped define cool jazz with saxophonist Paul Desmond through the 1950s and 1960s.
Brubeck died of heart failure early Wednesday morning on his way to a cardiology appointment with his son Darius and would have had his 92nd Birthday the following Thursday.
