Esteemed British actor (and sometimes musician) Idris Elba, who has appeared in numerous hit movies and tv shows, shared a video on his Twitter account on March 16, 2020 to announce that he had tested positive for the novel coronavirus COVID-19. Despite being asymptomatic, he says he got tested after being told he had been recently exposed to a colleague who had recently been diagnosed with having the deadly virus. Mr. Elba said in his video, along with his wife, Sabrina Dhowre, that they urge their viewers to stand in global solidarity by self-quarantining, practicing social distancing and mask wearing, and using soap and hand sanitizer to combat the spread of the virus.
